Spirit Unit

The Spirit Unit consists of the Cheerleaders, Dance Team and Mascot! They are visible at all home basketball games, selected away basketball games, selected soccer games, community service events, conference, regional and national competitions. The unit not only prides themselves on giving 100% percent at practices, games and competitions but on the high academic standards they set for themselves in the classroom! The Spirit Unit currently holds at 2.99 cumulative GPA, which means some squads have maintained a 3.0 or better!

Also, the Spirit Unit is dedicated to upholding the rich traditions of Wright State University through leadership skills, dedication, commitment, communityinvolvement, mentorship to the youth of today and promoting school spirit through sporting events, exhibitions and competitive events.

Cheerleaders Help Former Raider Dip Into Business
On the newly paved streets of The Greene Town Center the Wright State Spirit Unit helped former Raider golfer Pete Samborsky open his new Coldstone Creamery by dipping ice cream and greeting customers.

2006 NCA-NDA Program of the Year Honors!
The Wright State Spirit unit receives the Program Development award! The award is given to the Spirit unit that demonstrates excellence in working together as a Cheer-Dance unit, having qualified and knowledgeable staff and represents the university in a professional and positive manner at all university and community service events.

Emerald Jazz to Offer Dance Workshop
The Wright State Emerald Jazz dance team will host their second annual Halftime Performance Workshop on January 13, 2007. The workshop will take place in the Ervin J. Nutter Center starting at Noon and run throughout the evening.

Cheerleaders and Emerald Jazz Earn National Bids
The Wright State Cheerleaders and Emerald Jazz received national bids to compete in Daytona Beach, Florida, in 2007.

Emerald Jazz Earn Team Routine and Team Work Honors
The Wright State Emerald Jazz received second place in the Team Routine and the 2006 Team Work award voted on by the staff at the NDA Dance Instructional Camp.

Cheerleaders Earn Fight Song and Game Day Award Honors
The Wright State Cheerleaders received second place honors in the Fight Song and Game Day competitions at the NCA Instructional Camp.
