2006 NCA-NDA Program of the Year Award Winner!

For the second time in four years, the Spirit Unit has received the Program Development award. This award is given to the University the exemplifies tremendous work ethic in coming together as a cheer-dance unit, being current on safety and liability issues, representing the Athletic department in a professional and positive manner at university and community related events, and having qualified/ knowledgeable staff that displays excellence and good sportsmanship at all times. What an honor for our program!

Nationals Bids to the 2007 NCA-NDA Collegiate National Championship held in Daytona Beach, Florida on April 4-7, 2007.

ProDance Workshop

The Emerald Jazz participated in one of the HOTTEST dance workshops in the country! College dance teams could participate by invitation only and guess who was invited to the party? That's right.. Wright State's Emerald Jazz! What an honor to be selected for such a terrific event. The event took place in Palm Springs, CA on July 28- August 2, 2006.

The team learned choreography for some of the BEST in the business! Imagine getting some of the coolest moves from Shane Sparks, Jon Peters, Shawnette Heard, Barry Youngblood, Tabitha and Napoleon D'umo, Rey Lozano and the list goes on! The Emerald Jazz even learned choreography from an HBC fraternity and the moves were TIGHT! A lot of the choreography will be featured in this season's exhibition and halftime performances.

Cheerleaders Around Town!

If you think the season ends in May.. guess again! Our cheerleaders are out in full force as they participated in the Fairborn 4th of July Parade and the VECTRON Dayton Air Show in the month of July. A Cheerleader's work is never done..whew!

This summer seven members of the Spirit Unit will represent us in the field as Summer Camp Instructors. All of these talented students will be training cheerleaders and dancers from all over the USA. What an honor!

Cheerleaders and Emerald Jazz take National Honors!

On April 6-7, 2006; the Wright State University Cheerleaders, Emerald Jazz and Rowdy competed at the NCA/NDA Collegiate National Championship! We are pleased to announce that WSU's Cheerleaders are 7th in Division 1 Cheer and the Emerald Jazz Dance team are 10th in Division 1 Dance. Our Cheerleaders, Dancers and Mascots are among some of the BEST squads in the nation!
