Feb. 3, 2010
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Wright State track and field program earned its third weekly award from the Horizon League on Tuesday (January 2) as freshman Erica Kemp claimed the Field Athlete of the Week honor. The rookie posted a winning vault of 3.65 meters in the pole vault at the Indiana Relays over the weekend.
This season, Kemp has tied or broken the pole vault record in each of the last three competitions for WSU, including the 3.65 showing last weekend. The Troy, Ohio native has bested the old mark by 0.3 meters thus far and currently owns the top vault in the Horizon League.
Kemp joins Heather Parrish as the only WSU field performers to win the weekly accolades, while Maggie McPherson has claimed the lone track athlete of the week honor for WSU during the indoor season.
The Raider will return to action on February 12-13 when they travel to Bowling Green State University to compete in the All-Ohio Championships.
