CEDARVILLE, Ohio – The Wright State women’s track and field team won their first indoor team title in school history when they captured the Cedarville Invitational on Friday, January 15. Six different athletes won individual events, two relays captured titles and four school records were broken at Doden Field House on the Cedarville University campus.
The field events helped the Raiders build the early points lead as Kylie Kopp won the long jump with a leap of 5.03-meters and then set the school record with a flop of 1.53-meters in the high jump. Erica Kemp broke the school’s pole vault mark by .15-meters with a vault of 3.50-meters and Heather Parrish broke her own mark in the triple jump to push the school standard to 11.16-meters.

In the 55-meter hurdles, Cassandra Lloyd captured the individual crown in a meet and school record time of 8.01. The time broker the meet record, which she currently held, and bested the WSU mark of 8.07. The Raiders took the top three spots in the hurdles and later put five athletes in the top eight of the 55-meter dash.
Nelly Cheruiyot captured the college division title in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 19:18, topping her personal best time in the event by over three minutes. That was followed by a victory from the 4x200 relay team of Tiffany Brigham, Michelle Izeh, Lloyd and Kopp, while McPherson posted the final WSU victory of the meet in the 400-meter dash.
The Green and Gold return to the track on Friday, January 22 as they travel to the Jane Hermann Invitational on the camps of Bowling Green.
