INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Wright State track and field program swept the weekly Horizon League honors after a strong showing at the Buckeye Classic hosted by Ohio State last week. Freshman Maggie McPherson won the Track Athlete of the Week award, while junior Heather Parrish took home the Field Athlete of the Week award from the league office.
McPherson broke the school record in the 600-meter run at the French Field House in Columbus, placing third in the nine-athlete heat, crossing the finish line in a time of 1:42.41. The Pandora, Ohio native broke the 600-meter record by .19-seconds and also helped the 4x400 relay to a second place finish at the meet.
Parrish broke a pair of school standards in the jump events at the Buckeye Classic, including one mark that she already owned. The junior broke her own record in the triple jump with an 11.03-meters showing in the event, eclipsing her old mark by nearly .2-meters. She also broke the long jump record with a leap of 5.28-metersto best the old mark of 5.19-meters.
