Daniel Munsey Hired as Assistant Tennis Coach

Dec. 22, 2008

DAYTON, Ohio – The Wright State tennis program and head coach Sean McCaffrey have announced the hiring of Daniel Munsey as the men’s and women’s assistant coach. Munsey joins the program after spending one season as an assistant under McCaffrey at Colby-Sawyer College in New Hampshire.

Munsey was a four-year letterwinner at Colby-Sawyer and played for McCaffrey during that time and spent one season at his alma mater as an assistant coach. While at CSC, Munsey was a two-time team captain and earned All-Commonwealth Coast Conference honors three times. He ranks third in school history in singles wins, doubles wins and overall victories.

While an assistant coach at Colby-Sawyer, Munsey served the program in recruiting, travel, team management and instruction. During his final season with the Chargers, Munsey was a part of the women’s coaching staff that guided CSC to a perfect 15-0 mark.

"I am very pleased and excited that Coach Munsey will be joining the tennis program here at Wright State University,” head coach Sean McCaffrey said. “Over the past six years I have had the pleasure to identify that Danny is loyal, passionate about tennis, and is a positive high-energy coach who will bring a wide range of experience to our program.”

Also in 2008, Munsey acted as the head coach for Hanover (N.H.) High School men’s tennis squad and guided the team to a 17-0 record and the New Hampshire State Championship. His team was the runner-up for the NHHSAA Team Sportsmanship Award, while Munsey was in charge of all aspects of the program.

“We are seeking to develop and create a championship level environment here and Wright State and I believe that Coach Munsey will serve a key role within the Raider tennis program achieving that goal," added McCaffrey.

Instructionally, Munsey was a Residential Advisor at Camp Lenox for two summers, worked as the Assistant Tennis Professional at Our Court Racquet Club and was the Youth Tennis Director at The Arlington Recreational Center. He has taught lessons to players of all ages and levels and has experience running and organizing tournament and club events.

Munsey will aid head coach McCaffrey in various day-to-day operation of the tennis program and act as the recruiting coordinator. Along with recruiting, Munsey will work to put together schedules, work with community outreach and work closely with each team.
