FT. WAYNE, Ind. – The Wright State women’s tennis team claimed a pair of back draw championships and held a winning mark against Horizon League opponents at the IPFW Invitational. Freshman Taylor Hines and Amy Nini each won their back draw, while two other WSU players fell in the finals of their back draw over the weekend.
Four of the six WSU singles competitors found themselves playing in the finals of their respective draws. In the #1 singles draw, Kenisha Webb dropped her back draw finale, while senior Jackie Garrett fell in the back draw final of the #6 singles draw.

It was a pair of rookies that took home titles for the Green and Gold, when Hines and Nini each claimed their final two matches to win the back draws of the #5 and #4 singles draws, respectively. Hines downed Horizon League opponent Maria Anderson of Green Bay, 6-3, 6-1, to take the #5 singles back draw. Nini collected a hard fought win over IUPUI’s Janel Seng in the finals of the #4 singles back draw, claiming a 6-4, 6-3 victory.
Masha Peresetsky was the lone WSU player to advance into the main draw, but was defeated in her second match of the #2 singles draw by Shelby Hullett of IUPUI.
The Raiders will return to the hard courts on Thursday, October 22 at the ITA Midwest Regional to be held at the University of Cincinnati.
