Karina Presti Claimed Two Wins During the Week For the Raiders

DAYTON, Ohio - The Wright State women's tennis team dropped a pair of midweek matches, before splitting two weekend Horizon League tilts to close out their week. Sophomore Kenisha Webb won three singles matches during the week, taking a pair of Horizon League victories and defeating her counterpart from Dayton.

 


 

 

The Raiders dropped a pair of midweek tilts against Buckeye State opponents, falling 6-1 versus Xavier and 6-1 against Dayton. Karina Presti won the lone singles tilt versus Xavier, taking a 7-5, 4-6, 10-7 decision at the #1 spot, while Webb won the #3 singles match versus the Flyers with a 6-1, 7-5 victory.

 

On Saturday, the Green and Gold snapped a 19-match Horizon League winless streak against Valparaiso, taking a 5-2 decision over the Crusaders. Webb and Masha Peresetsky teamed up for an 8-0 victory at the #1 doubles spot, while Presti and Jackie Garrett claimed an 8-2 win at the #2 spot to push WSU to an early 1-0 advantage.

 

The Green and Gold then captured the first four singles matches to secure their first league win of the season. Presti won a 6-4, 6-4 decision at the #1 spot, Peresetsky took a 6-3, 6-2 victory at the #2 position, while Webb won a 6-1, 6-1 tilt at the #3 spot. Garrett claimed the fifth point for WSU with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Katie Bilyeu.

 

The Raiders were in an early 1-0 hold versus UIC as the Flames claimed the doubles point, but Webb continued her solid play with a tough, three-set win at the #3 spot. The sophomore posted a 2-6, 6-4, 11-9 come-from-behind win over Elena Antakova.

 

The Raiders are now 2-17 overall and 1-5 in Horizon League play after the four-match week, and will return to action on Tuesday April 7th at Butler starting at 3:00.
