New Wright State softball coach Linda Garza has announced the 2010 schedule, which features five in-season tournaments, including visits to Georgia, Florida, Mississippi and Texas.

The Raiders open the campaign at the KSU Classic February 13-14 in Kennesaw, Georgia. WSU will face Jacksonville State, host Kennesaw State, Indiana and South Dakota State. The following weekend has Wright State heading to Tampa for a tournament hosted by South Florida. The Raiders will face Michigan State, the host Bulls, North Carolina State, Hofstra and North Dakota State in the three-day event.

WSU wraps up February at the Frost Classic in Chattanooga, Tennessee, which includes matchups with Georgetown, Ball State, Tennessee Tech, Evansville and Rutgers, and begins March with the Bulldog Classic in Starkville, Mississippi as the Raiders take on Mississippi Valley State, Troy and host Mississippi State.

The final in-season tournament for Wright State will be the Aggie Invitational at College Station, Texas, March 12-14, which includes North Dakota State, Utah State and host Texas A&M.

"We are very excited about the 2010 schedule," said Garza. "To be a nationally competitive team, we need to play against some of the nation's elite programs and this schedule does that. Our players and coaches look forward to the challenge."

WSU's home opener will be on Tuesday, March 23, as the Raiders host Ohio for a 3:00 doubleheader. The rest of the schedule features the 24-game Horizon League slate and twinbills against local rivals Dayton, Marshall and Miami.

The Horizon League tournament will take place May 13-15 at the site of the regular-season champion with the top six teams competing for the championship and the automatic bid to the NCAA regionals.

In all, seven of Wright State's 2010 opponents (Cleveland State, Jacksonville State, Miami, Mississippi State, Mississippi Valley State, North Dakota State, Texas A&M) advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season.

Wright State, which finished 34-21 in 2009 to record its second-most wins ever in a season, returns all 10 starters and 14 letterwinners in 2010.
