Allison Cox, a junior designated player/pitcher on the Wright State softball team, was named All-Midwest Region as the Louisville Slugger All-Region awards were announced Thursday morning by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Cox (Chillicothe, OH/Zane Trace) hit .268 on the season as she appeared in 50 games with 44 starts. She smacked seven home runs and eight doubles while driving in 35. In the circle, Cox went 3-3 with a 2.35 earned run average along with three saves.

A First Team All-Horizon League honoree, Cox was the League's Pitcher of the Week on April 6 and the Player of the Week on April 20.

Cox is the seventh player to receive All-Region honors in the program's history, joining Jherica Williams (2008), Nikki Scott (2001), Annie Divac (2000), Michelle Demmitt and Amber Kolle (1999) and Angie Lala (1997).

Cox is now in the running for All-American honors, which will be announced on May 27.
