Another Big Week for Softball in the National Rankings



Kristen Bradshaw appears in three categories this week

The Wright State softball team continues its strong showing in the latest NCAA Division I rankings, which are through games of April 13.

Senior Jherica Williams (Piqua, OH/Piqua) appears in eight categories again this week, which includes leading the nation in slugging percentage at 1.000 and in runs batted in per game at 1.57 (58 in 37 games). She is also second in batting average at .496, seventh in runs per game at 1.11 (41 in 37 games), ninth in doubles per game at 0.38 (14 in 37 games), 10th in triples per game at 0.14 (5 in 37 games), 13th in on base percentage at .537 and 17th in home runs per game at 0.32 (12 in 37 games).

Williams went three-for-seven in a doubleheader at Miami Tuesday with a double, a run scored and two RBI. Her 26-game hitting streak, though, was snapped in the second game, ending a run that saw her hit .605 (52 for 86) with 12 home runs, 59 RBI, 12 doubles, five triples and 36 runs scored. She also recorded a 1.279 slugging percentage, a .636 on-base percentage, 19 multi-hit games and 19 multi-RBI contests.

Sophomore Jamie Perkins (Convoy, OH/Crestview) is ranked in five categories as she is fourth in runs per game at 1.19 (44 in 37 games), 53rd in batting average at .400, 58th in on base percentage at .485, 81st in saves with two and 100th in slugging percentage at .655.

Sophomore Kristen Bradshaw (Portsmouth, OH/Northwest) appears in three categories as she is seventh in RBI per game at 1.19 (44 in 37 games), 24th in triples per game at 0.11 (4 in 37 games) and 87th in slugging percentage at .669.

Sophomore Allison Cox (Chillicothe, OH/Zane Trace) is 63rd in doubles per game at 0.29 (10 in 35 games) while freshman Louie Haney (Springfield, IL/Chatham-Glenwood) is 63rd in runs per game at 0.84 (27 in 32 games).
 

 

As a team, the Raiders are fourth in batting average (.330), triples per game (0.46) and slugging percentage (.549), eighth in scoring at 6.49 runs per contest and ninth in both home runs (1.19) and doubles (1.73) per game.

Wright State (21-18, 8-2 Horizon) heads to Butler for a Horizon League doubleheader Thursday at 3:00 before hosting Loyola this weekend for a three-game set, starting with a twinbill Saturday at 1:00.
