Rooma Earns All-Region Honors from NSCAA

Senior Jess Rooma Was the First WSU Player to Earn All-Region Accolades All Four Seasons on Campus

Dec. 15, 2008

DAYTON, Ohio – The Wright State women’s soccer team brought home a postseason, individual honor from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, as senior Jess Rooma was named to the All-Great Lakes Region squad. Rooma was honored as a Second Team All-Region performer for the second straight season.

Rooma became the first player in school history to earn four years on the All-Horizon League First Team earlier in 2008 and now marks the first time that a Raider women’s soccer player has earned All-Region four times. During her career she was listed as a defender and midfielder and at times attacked as a forward – scoring eight match winning goals.

For her career, Rooma recorded 15 goals, 11 assists and 41 total points in 74 starts in the Green and Gold. The Westfield, Ohio native ended her career with 120 shots and was only the eights player in league history to earn All-League First Team honors during all four years on campus.

The senior was one of eight Horizon League players named to the All-Region First or Second Team, leading all conferences. The Big Ten and Horizon League tied for the most representatives with eight, while the Big East accounted for six players on the list.

Rooma was one of three seniors to end their careers this season, joining Amy Miller and Stephanie Habner as the class of 2008. Those three appeared in two Horizon League semifinals, hosted four opening round Horizon League Tournament games and won more games than any other class in Wright State history (46).
