DAYTON, OH - The Wright State women's soccer team dropped an exhibition match to Miami (OH) on Friday evening at Alumni Field. Nicole Amador accounted for the lone tally for WSU and MU used a pair of second half goals to hold on for the victory.

The RedHawks got the scoring started in the 19th minute when Sara Lund sent a long pass down the sideline that found a streaking Jodi Zwingelberg. After a few dribbles, Zwingelberg sent a crossing pass into the box from the right sideline and Julie Thompson tapped it into the net for a 1-0 MU lead.

The two teams played the remainder of the half scoreless as Miami took a 1-0 lead into halftime. The RedHawks out-shot the Raiders 13-6 in the first stanza and WSU goalkeeper Meghan Hackerson made eight saves.

Amber Kasmer started the second half by putting some pressure on the MU keeper. Kasmer broke away from the RedHawks defense and dribbled past the keeper, but her angled shot sailed just wide of the net in the 50th minute.

Miami extended their lead in the 58th minute on an unassisted goal from Jackie Hardek. Hardek sent a long shot towards net and it snuck over the head of Hackerson and into the net.

The Raiders tallied their lone goal in the 74th minute when Amador tapped home a rebound. The play was set up after a crossing pass from Desirè Morris was shot on goal by Megan Bush. The shot was saved by MU keeper Krista Pace, but Amador was there to knock home the rebound and cut the MU lead to 2-1.

Miami would add another tally in the 88th minute on a goal by Jill Moore to account for the final margin of 3-1.

In the game, Miami took 21 shots and forced Hackerson to make 13 saves. The Raiders launched 17 shots, 11 in the second half, with Jen Agueci, Amy Miller and Bush all taking three shots. WSU won the battle of corner kicks by a seven to five margin.

Wright State falls to 1-1 overall during their exhibition season and will conclude their preseason schedule with a game against Eastern Kentucky. The Raiders will host the Colonels at Alumni Field on Sunday, August 26 at 1:00.
