Ta-myra Davis, a junior-to-be on the Wright State women's basketball team, has been selected to participate in a tour of East Asia later this summer with Athletes in Action.
The tour begins in late July with a week-long training camp, which will be held in either Xenia, Los Angeles or Lynchburg, Virginia. The team will travel to East Asia at the beginning of August and then, over a two-week span, compete in games, conduct clinics and possibly help with humanitarian aide efforts.
"This experience will help Ta-myra grow both on the court and off in her game," said Raider head coach Bridgett Williams. "We are so excited that she will be representing our program in East Asia, much like she does here by reaching out to the community and showcasing her talent on the floor."
A transfer from Youngstown State, the 2008-09 campaign was Davis' first in a Wright State uniform as she averaged 8.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while shooting 55.7 percent from the field. The 6-1 forward scored 19 points on three different occasions (Dayton, IPFW, at Detroit) and posted doubles against Cleveland State (10 points, 10 rebounds) and Loyola (10 points, 11 rebounds). Over the final nine games of the season, the Akron native averaged 12.4 points and 7.3 rebounds per contest while shooting 60.1 percent.
Wright State advanced to the Horizon League Tournament semifinals last season as the Raiders finished 15-16 overall and 10-8 in the League.
