Peddy, Fox Honored by Horizon League

Horizon League Release

Two Raiders were recognized as the women's basketball All-Horizon League honors were announced Sunday night by the league office. Sophomore guard Shey Peddy was selected Second Team All-League and also to the All-Defensive Team while freshman forward Molly Fox was named to the All-Newcomer Team.

Peddy (Boston, MA/Melrose) leads the League and is ranked 16th nationally in steals per game at 2.9. She also appears in the League rankings in assists (2nd at 4.2 per game), free throw percentage (4th at .796), assist-to-turnover ratio (5th at 1.3) and scoring (6th at 12.4 per game). In League games only, Peddy leads in assists per game (4.4), is second in steals per game (2.7), fourth in both free throw percentage (.811) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.3) and fifth in scoring (12.8).

Peddy scored a season-high 24 points in a win at Milwaukee and had two other games with 20 or more points. She also recorded five games with five or more steals, including seven at Evansville, and had five or more assists 12 times.

Peddy was named to the All-Defensive Team for the second straight year and was the League's Newcomer of the Year along with a First Team selection in 2007-08.

Fox (Nashville, IN/Brown County) finished 10th in the League in both offensive rebounds (2.1) and blocks (0.7) per game as she shot 49 percent from the field. She posted seven double-figure scoring games, including a 19-point effort against Detroit when she hit eight of nine shots, and gathered in a season-high 10 rebounds at UIC.

With the naming of Fox, 10 Raiders have now been named to the All-Newcomer Team since Wright State joined the league in 1994-95. Of the previous nine, five went on to score more than 1000 points in their WSU careers and two others (Peddy 836, LaShawna Thomas 648) are still playing.

Wright State, which finished the regular season at 14-15 overall and 10-8 in the Horizon League, is the #5 seed for this week's Horizon League Tournament. The Raiders open tournament play on Wednesday, March 11, at #4 seed Valparaiso in quarterfinal action starting at 8:00 Eastern time.
