Green Bay hit 16 of 23 shots in the first half, including four of seven from three-point range, and Wright State could not recover as the #23/20-ranked Phoenix went on to a 74-50 decision over the Raiders in Horizon League women's basketball action at the C.J. McLin Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.

After missing its first field goal attempt of the day, the Phoenix hit 10 straight shots, including four three-pointers, in jumping out to a 24-10 advantage with 8:47 to go in the opening half. Erica Richardson kept the margin at 14 with two foul shots and a layup before Green Bay followed with a 7-0 burst en route to a 35-16 halftime advantage.

Green Bay connected on 15 of 23 shots in the first half for 65 percent and was four of seven from behind the arc while the Raiders hit just six of 20 shots overall and missed all six of their three-point attempts.

WSU would get no closer than 15 the rest of the way as the Phoenix closed the game with a 9-1 run.

Green Bay shot 56 percent overall and was 10 of 20 from three compared to 36 percent and two of 12 from behind the arc for the Raiders. The Phoenix also led in points in the paint (32-20) and points off of turnovers (22-11).

Richardson led Wright State with 18 points, 10 coming in the first half, and was a perfect 10 for 10 from the foul line while Kanisha Ward chipped in 12. The Raiders were an impressive 18 of 20 from the foul line altogether.

Green Bay (19-3, 8-3 Horizon) was paced by Julie Wojta's double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds while Celeste Hoewisch had 18 along with seven steals and Sarah Eichler 13.
 

 

Wright State (8-13, 4-7 Horizon) heads to the Windy City next weekend for a pair of games, taking on UIC on Thursday, February 11, at 8:00 Eastern followed by Loyola on Saturday, February 13, at 1:30 Dayton time.
