Men's Tennis Inks International Standout Waldhausen for 2009-10

April 23, 2009

DAYTON, Ohio – The Wright State men’s tennis program will add a little more international flavor to their roster for the 2009-10 season, as head coach Sean McCaffrey announced the signing of Tore Waldhausen to a letter of intent. Waldhausen will join fellow newcomer Evan Neuman as the first two recruits during McCaffrey’s time at Wright State.

Waldhausen is a native of Wernigerode, Germany and owns a current German ranking of 543rd overall and is 73rd among the 18U players in the country. He attends Gerhart-Hauptmann Gymnasium and is a two-time German Junior National Champion in both singles and doubles.

“The addition of an international player like Tore will really help our program,” head coach Sean McCaffrey said. “He has a strong court presences, a determination to win and is a very aggressive player on the court. Couple this with the returning players and the addition of Evan Neuman and I feel we have a strong base that will enable Wright State to compete for the Horizon League Championship.”

The Raiders will lose only seniors Pip Rehg and Brett Stewart, while returning redshirt senior Nick Camilleri from injury along with a strong core of young players to build around. The 2009 squad posted five victories, including three in league play, and will return four players with ten-or-more singles wins from last season.
