![]() Sophomore Kenisha Webb Has Won Four of Her Last Five Singles Matches Heading into Tournament Play |

2009 Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championship Brackets INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The tennis complex as North Central High School in Indianapolis will play host to the 2009 Horizon League Tennis Championships starting on Friday, April 24. The Raiders men’s squad will enter as the #5 seed and the women’s team will take the #8 seed into the 2009 summit. The men’s squad posted a record of 5-16 overall this season, winning three more matches then they did a season ago, under first year head coach Sean McCaffrey. WSU posted three wins against league opponents, their most since the 2005 season, and will open the championships against Green Bay, who claimed a 5-2 win over WSU on March 29. Leading the way for the Green and Gold will be freshman Mihkel Kruusmagi who has won four consecutive matches at the #5 post. Kruusmagi has claimed wins against five of the seven Horizon League opponents, winning five of his last six in league singles play. Jan Alafriz has the most singles wins for an active roster member (13), followed closely by Landon Neuman (12) and Byron Wowchuk (11).

On the women’s side of things, the Green and Gold owned a 2-19 mark with a 1-7 record in league play. The #8-seeded Raiders will face the #5 seed Youngstown State. WSU won their only league match against Valparaiso on April 4, taking a 5-2 decision, marking their first league victory since the 2005-06 slate.
Kenisha Webb has been playing well for WSU as she is 5-5 in her last ten matches and has a team-high nine singles wins this season. Webb has won four of her last five matches at the #3 spot and was 4-4 in league play this season. Freshman Masha Peresetsky also held a 4-4 mark in the league, while collecting seven singles wins at the #2 spot throughout the season.
The Championships will conclude on Sunday, April 26th and the Horizon League network will cover the #1 singles match and #1 doubles match live starting at 10:30 am.
