The Tennis Program will Welcome Evan Neuman and a New Surface to the WSU Tennis Courts in 2009-10

April 16, 2009

DAYTON, Ohio – The Wright State tennis program and head coach Sean McCaffrey received their first letter of intent on Thursday as Elida High School standout Evan Neuman signed on for the 2009-10 season. Evan is the younger brother of current WSU tennis player Landon Neuman and was a singles qualifier at the 2008 OHSAA State Championships.

“Evan is a talented young player that has a competitive drive on and off the court,” said head coach Sean McCaffrey. “He is a player we feel can fit in very well with our team philosophy and help build our program in a positive direction.”

Neuman qualified for the 2008 Ohio High School Athletic Association’s State Singles Championship, bowing out in the round of eight. This was not his first trip to the state, as he teamed with his brother, Landon, to make a pair of trips on the doubles side as a freshman and sophomore.

As a sophomore, the Neuman brothers earned All-State First Team honors in Division II, while helping EHS to a perfect 9-0 record in Western Buckeye League play in each of his first three seasons. The Bulldogs have won a pair of WBLL Tournament crowns and placed runner-up in 2008.
