LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Wright State men’s tennis team continued to show improved play at the Louisville Winter Invitational with a combined 15-9 mark and a pair of championships in the consolation bracket. Senior Nick Camilleri won the Flight A Consolation bracket and teamed with Tore Waldhausen to claim the Consolation championship in Flight A doubles.
Camilleri dropped his opening match in Flight A to Indiana’s Will Kendall, but responded with four straight victories, including a victory over Oscar Pachon of Tennessee Tech that the Australian dropped only six points. Camilleri defeated opponents from Indiana-Southeast, Morehead State, Tennessee Tech and Xavier on his way to the championship.
Waldhausen claimed a victory over Louisville’s Adam Donaldson, Brad Krick won his opening singles match over Alex Witzgall of Western Kentucky and Brian Dredge claimed a win over Chris Leeper of Kentucky – the school where Dredge started his collegiate career. The Neuman brothers each claimed victories in singles, with Landon picking up a hard-fought victory over Carlos Valdenbro of Eastern Kentucky and younger brother Evan defeated Mario Guterriez of Tennessee Tech in three sets.
