EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Wright State men's tennis team had a solid showing at the Frank Beeman Invitational over the weekend (Sept. 18-20), posting ten singles wins and three doubles wins over the weekend at the Michigan State Outdoor Tennis Courts.

 

Overall, the Green and Gold were 10-11 overall in singles matches and posted a 3-5 mark in doubles play. Against Horizon League opponents, WSU was 8-2 in singles matches and 2-2 on the doubles court.


 

 

 

Senior Nick Camilleri posted five total wins over the weekend, posting three singles victories and a pair of doubles wins with partner Landon Neuman. Camilleri dropped his opening match to Knot Likitkumchorn of Toledo, before defeating a pair of Horizon League opponents from Detroit and claiming a win against Brendan Kinkopf from Michigan State.

 

With the three singles wins, Camilleri now has 60 singles wins for his career and sits only four singles triumphs away from moving into a tie for sixth on the all-time list. His 120 total victories (singles and doubles) are just one shy of the sixth spot held by Scott Heyden with 121.

 

Rookie Evan Neuman boasted a 3-1 record in singles play, winning his final three singles tilts against opponents from Detroit. His lone singles loss came in his opening match against Michigan State's Christian Roehmer, which finished with scores of 6-3, 6-7(3), 2-6.

 

Tore Waldhausen continued to have a solid start to his freshman season with a 1-1 mark on the single courts and a 2-1 record in doubles. The Wernigrode, Germany native defeated opponents from Detroit and Northern Illinois in singles and claimed a doubles match with teammate Brian Dredge over Chris Leson and Steve D'Angelo of Youngstown State.

 

The Raiders will the next two weeks off before returning to the courts at the Louisville Invitational on October 16.
