TOLEDO, Ohio – The Wright State men’s tennis team opened up the 2009-10 season with a solid showing at the Toledo Rockets Fall Invitational, placing second out of five teams. The Rockets won nine total team points, followed by WSU with five team points and Dayton, Kenyon and Denison rounding out the standings.

Wright State won five of their eight head-to-head flight play matches, going 3-0 in doubles flight play and 2-3 in singles play. WSU owned an overall mark of 7-8 in singles matches and were 6-3 in doubles matches during the two-day invitational.

Senior Nick Camilleri – who sat out last season due to injury – picked up two singles wins to move into seventh on the all-time singles wins list. Camilleri now has 57 total singles wins and is just 10 wins away from entering the top five in school history.

Camilleri teamed with rookie Tore Waldhausen on doubles to post a perfect 3-0 mark, while Waldhausen also claimed two of his three singles matches at the Toledo Invitational. The team of Evan Neuman and Landon Neuman – brothers from Lima, Ohio – posted a perfect 3-0 mark on the doubles side, while Evan won his first career singles match on day two versus Denison.

Brad Krick and Byron Wowchuk each claimed a singles win over the weekend to help WSU to a successful opening weekend.

The Green and Gold will return to action this weekend as they travel north to compete in the Frank Beeman Invitational. WSU will head to East Lansing, Mich. to compete against the field for the second of four fall weekends.
