DAYTON, Ohio - The Wright State men's tennis team captured a pair of matches over the weekend at the Five Seasons Tennis Center, defeating Valparaiso and Youngstown State. The Raiders topped the Crusaders 6-1, before taking a 7-0 decision from the Penguins in Horizon League play.

Against Valparaiso, Jan Alafriz teamed with Mikhel Kruusmagi to claim an 8-3 decision at the #1 double spot, while Landon Neuman and Brian Dredge claimed an 8-3 win at the #2 double position to give the Raiders an early 1-0 lead after the doubles competition.

The Raiders then claimed the first five positions in the single matches to lock up their second Horizon League win of the season. Dredge won a three set match at the #1 spot, while Neuman toughed out a three-set win at the #2 position. Alafriz won in two sets to claim the #3 spot win, while Byron Wowchuk and Kruusmagi each claimed two-set victories at the #4 and #5 spots, respectively.

Then, on Senior Day, the Raiders continued their stellar play with a 7-0 decision over Youngstown State to claim their third league victory of the season and guarantee them at least a .500 mark in league play for the first time since 2005.

WSU swept the doubles portion of the match to claim an early 1-0 lead, before they rattled off all six singles points to claim their first 7-0 victory of the year. In the match, senior Pip Rehg, playing his final home match with the Raiders, claimed the decisive point with a 6-1, 6-4 victory at the #6 singles spot.

The Raiders are now 5-13 overall and 3-2 in Horizon League play. They will return to the courts for one match next week, traveling to Butler on Thursday, April 9th for a 3:00 match.
