Men's Soccer Ends Season with 2-1 Loss at Cleveland State

Junior Braden Fleak Tallied His 11th Goal of 2008 Against Cleveland State on Sunday

Nov. 9, 2008

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Wright State men’s soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision at Cleveland State in the Second Round of the 2008 Horizon League Championships. WSU held a 1-0 advantage at the half, but the Vikings would rally for the victory at Krenzler Field.

In the first half, the Raiders tallied five shots and converted on their only attempt on-goal. Junior Braden Fleak tallied his 11th marker of the season when he gathered his own rebound and buried a shot to give the Green and Gold a 1-0 lead at the 34:15 mark.

The Vikings would tally the match-tying goal in the 70th minute on a Josh Williams header and then nette the match-winner in the 76th minute when Slava Ubiparipovic scored on a breakaway and beat the WSU keeper to the right post.

The Raiders held a 12-8 advantage in shots and CSU goalkeeper Nick Harple made five saves – four in the second half. Each team took a pair of corner kicks and Wright State was flagged for three offsides in the match.

The Raiders wrap up their 2008 season with 6-13-1 record. Fleak led the squad with 11 goals, while Josh Grossman and Jordan Haggit each tallied three assists to pace WSU this season.
