Kalamazoo, Mich. - The Wright State men's soccer team couldn't overcome a torrid start from the Western Michigan Broncos as the Raiders lost 5-2 on Monday evening. The Broncos struck for four goals in the first 67 minutes before WSU would answer with goals from Brian Cothern and Joe Flach.

The Broncos (4-8-0) struck early, scoring in the sixth minute of the contest when Saee Sulemana Baba attempted a header that was saved by goalkeeper Corey Whisenhunt. However, Tyler Rosenhagen collected the rebound and finished from close range to put WMU up 1-0.
WMU would score again in the 37th minute, as Sam Meyer set up Dan Lewis to put the Broncos 2-0 at the half.
Danny Mortemore opened the scoring in the second half as he converted off of a series of chances in the 57th minute. Dan Lewis crossed it into the box, but Ross Dickson couldn't finish off a header and Mortemore volleyed the ball in for WMU's third goal.
Western Michigan struck again ten minutes later in the 67th minute, as Baba took control of a Kai Mendes miss to connect on his second goal of the match.
The Broncos led 4-0 when Brian Cothern struck for the first Raiders score in the 71st minute. The score marked the second straight match that Cothern converted on a penalty kick for the Raiders. Then, in the 81st minute, Joe Flach took advantage of a Bronco defense that was playing up as Flach got past WMU goalkeeper Casey Aubil for the score.
WMU would score the final goal of the game in the 90th minute, as Shaun Clements and Ross Dickson set up Tyler Rosenhagen for his second goal of the match.
The Broncos outshot the Raiders 21-8 overall and held the edge in corner kicks, 9-1
The Raiders (2-8-1) will continue their three game road swing with a match at Loyola on Saturday, October 17. The Green and Gold will look to take the lead in the series with the Ramblers, as the all-time series record is tied at 8-8-1, in an 8:00 kickoff.
