Raiders Ink Darkwa

April 21, 2009

Paul Darkwa, a 6-7, 230-pound forward/center, has signed a Letter of Intent to attend Wright State University and play basketball for the Raiders next fall.

Darkwa, a 26-year-old Navy veteran and native of Ghana, has lived in the United States since he was nine, attending Ramona High School in Southern California. He enlisted in the Navy immediately after high school.

"It is a unique opportunity for our guys to be able to learn from someone with a variety of life experiences," Brownell said. "Paul is a very mature young man who will bring a strong inside presence to our program. We look forward to having him join our family."

Darkwa was found by assistant coach Victor Ebong through his brother Francis Ebong, who played basketball with Darkwa in the Navy.

The Raiders signed two other players during the early-signing period: Tyler Koch, a 6-4, 190-pound guard from Winchester, Indiana, and Darian Carthan, a 6-0, 180-pound guard from Canal Winchester, Ohio.
