The Raiders received all six possible votes for first place and were chosen as the preseason favorite to win the Horizon League during the 2010 season after taking the Horizon League Tournament crown in 2009. The Raiders will return four of their five All-Horizon League performers from last year and bring back 24 players with game experience, including eight starters.

The Raiders will have to navigate their way through a tough 2010 schedule that was announced on Thursday by head baseball coach Rob Cooper. The Raiders will face teams from 12 different conferences and contest a 26 game Horizon League slate, all to culminate with an opportunity to defend their Horizon League Championship and advance to the postseason during the Horizon League Tournament on May 30th.

Sophomore pitcher Michael Schum was named to the 2010 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Preseason All-American Team on Wednesday afternoon. The submarine closer posted 13 saves last season as a redshirt freshman with a 1.95 ERA in 74 innings of work out of the bullpen.
