Sept. 2, 2009
DAYTON, Ohio – Tristan Moore, a sophomore-to-be on the Wright State baseball team, has been named the tenth best prospect in the Great Lakes Summer Baseball League by Baseball America. The sophomore outfielder led the league in on-base percentage and ranked among the leaders in five offensive categories for the Lima Locos.
Moore, who appeared in 46 games as a true freshman in 2009, started all 29 games for the Locos and boasted a .375 batting average with 39 hits and 17 RBI’s. The right-handed hitter also walked 18 times and owned the league’s top on-base percentage at .472. Moore was touted as a raw talent with a strong arm and gap-to-gap power from the batter’s box.
Moore, who played first base, outfield and filled in as the designated hitter during the 2009 season, was a First Team All-Great Lakes League selection as a utility player this summer. Add the Baseball America accolade to this and the 2009 season was a success for the New Albany, Ohio native.
Moore scored the game-tying run in the Horizon League Championship game with UIC on May 24 and collected a pair of game winning hits during the season. The right-handed hitter drove in the game winner versus LeMoyne on April 4 and collected a walk-off, RBI triple versus Youngtown State on March 21st at Nischwitz Stadium.
