OXFORD, OH - The Wright State men's and women's swimming and diving teams traveled down I-73 to face off with in-state rival Miami on Friday (Nov. 10) at the Nixon Aquatic Center. The men won nine of the 13 events on their way to a 139-102 victory, while the women won only four events in the 136-107 defeat.
The Raiders men's team won eight individual events, including a pair from both Warren Thompson and Rafael Candido, and finished second in seven events on their way to the fifth straight win of 2006. To open the meet, the Green and Gold won the 200 yd. Medley relay in a time of 1:33.79 and followed that with a second and third place showing from Nathan Demchuk and Ryan Klasmeier in the 1000 yd. Freestyle.
The big event of the day for the Raiders was the 200 yd. Freestyle, as they took the top three spots in the event. Scott Lang produced the victory in a time of 1:40.99 while Will Ehresman and Micah Belew took second and third.
Individually, Candido won the 100 yd. Breaststroke and the 100 yd. Freestyle events. Thompson took the top spot in the 200 yd. IM and 100 yd. Butterfly against the RedHawks. Ryan Kellerman won the 1-meter diving event and placed second in the 3-meter diving event and the Raiders posted one-two finishes in four events at Miami.

On the diving board, senior Sarah Wyant posted second place finishes in both the 1-meter and 3 meter, while teammate Crystal Grinstead placed third in each event.
The next action for each team will be on the road in Cleveland, as they head north for a battle with the Vikings of Cleveland State on Saturday, November 11. The men will swim against only the Vikings and the women will square off with CSU and Youngstown State in Horizon League action.
