SPORTING GEOGRAPHY is an educational activity kit that complements social studies and math curriculum objectives in grades four through eight. The SPORTING GEOGRAPHY kits provide teachers with reproducible lesson plans and desk maps that can be used at any time.
The idea of SPORTING GEOGRAPHY is to make learning geography fun. Students use the lesson plans to learn about sports, geography, math and a current event. The program motivates students to learn in a fun way using sports as the focus.
SPORTING GEOGRAPHY lesson plans interrelate subject areas by using a common theme: geography. The materials emphasize state requirements and education guidelines for social studies and math in grades four through eight. In addition to state guidelines, lesson plan materials incorporate the National Geography Standards and place great emphasis on the five themes of geography: location, place, human environment interaction, movement and regions. The kit adapts easily to diverse interests and skill levels and encourages critical thinking and hands-on learning experiences for students.
