Box Score DAYTON — The Wright State baseball program dropped a midweek contest to Dayton 9-3 on Tuesday afternoon at Woerner Field.
WSU fell to 15-19 on the season while UD improved to 15-17 overall.
Sammy Sass led the way by going 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI.
Gehrig Anglin batted 2-for-4 with a run scored, while
Zane Harris had an RBI single in his final at-bat.
Julian Greenwell reached base twice on a double and a walk.
Andrew Patrick added two singles.
Offensively, the Raiders were held to one run on three hits and three walks against UD starting pitcher Cody Whitten (2-0). WSU had the majority of its success against the UD bullpen with five hits and a pair of walks.

Sam Wirsing fell to 1-4 on the season after allowing three runs, two earned, on four hits and one walk in 3.1 innings of work.
Tristan Haught was tagged for three runs on one hit and two walks in two-thirds of an inning, while
Donnie Nicodemus gave up a grand slam in the sixth.
Defensive miscues plagued the Raiders early on, as the Flyers reached the scoreboard in the second inning off a fielding error by right fielder
Alec Sayre.
Trailing 1-0, Wright State threatened in the top of the fourth, as runners were on first and second with one out. However, the Raiders proceeded to hit into a double play. Dayton added to its lead in the bottom of the fourth, turning three singles into a pair of runs.
Sammy Sass cut WSU's deficit to 3-1 in the top of the fifth, as he led off the frame with a single and came around to score on a wild pitch.
UD answered back in the bottom of the sixth with a grand slam off the bat of Henry Strmecki, pushing its lead to 7-1. Dayton plated two more runs in the seventh to extend its edge to 9-1.
Wright State's offense found a rhythm in the top of the eighth with two runs on four hits. Harris and Sass hit back-to-back RBI singles in the frame. The Flyers blanked WSU in the ninth to seal the win.
The Raiders will return to action on Saturday, April 23, with a home doubleheader against Northern Kentucky.
