Maureen Cooper was promoted to Senior Associate Athletic Director in July 2008. She also serves as the school's senior woman administrator.
The role of SWA is an important one in college athletics, especially in the governance structure of the Horizon League. In that role, Cooper represents WSU in conference dealings pertaining to scheduling, championships and legislation. Cooper also serves as WSU's liaison for gender equity and Title IX issues.
In addition, Cooper serves as administrator of several WSU teams, including volleyball, women's soccer, softball, golf and men's and women's track and field. She also oversees cheer and dance, facilities and game management as well as the promotions department. She acts as the department's liaison to the Nutter Center Box Office.
Cooper came to Wright State after serving as the Athletic Foundation and Special Events Coordinator at Sacramento State University for four years. Her duties there included organizing major fundraising events, implementing a chairback seat campaign for the football program and arranging speaking engagements for athletic personnel.
Before Sacramento State, Cooper spent two years as the Assistant Director of Championships for the Pacific-10 Conference and two as the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Senior Woman Administrator at the University of Miami. She has also worked at Wake Forest as the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and at the Atlantic Coast Conference office as the Assistant Director for Compliance and Championships.
The former Maureen Lantz, Cooper is the daughter of Rick Lantz, who was the NFL Europe Coach of the Year in 2004 for the Berlin Thunder and has also coached at the United States Naval Academy, Virginia, Miami (FL), Georgia Tech, Notre Dame and Louisville along with the NFL's New England Patriots.
Cooper graduated from Dayton in 1992 with a double major in American Studies and English. She is the wife of Wright State head baseball coach Rob Cooper and they have two sons, Tyson and Jake.
