Palngji Sunday was named as an assistant cross country/track coach at Wright State in January 2016.

The women's cross country team placed 1st at the Jenna Strong Classic and 2nd at the 2016 Horizon League Championships.  In 2016, three runners were named to the Horizon League All-Academic Team including Hailey Brumfield and Alexandra Brown from the women's team and Ryan Dunn from the men's team.

Both the Wright State men's and women's cross country teams were each named a 2016- All-Academic Team by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The WSU Women's team posted an average grade point average of 3.54 while the men's squad was listed at 3.36.

In 2016, five track student-athletes were named Academic All-League; Alexandra Brown, Gabrielle Markley, Katie Abrahamowicz, Hailey Brumfield, and Maria Heckman.  Horizon League first team honors went to Brown, Maria Heckman and Doepker; second team Victoria Angelopoulos and Markley, Brooklyn Mikesell received honorable mention.

They won their first ever outdoor meet at the Yellow Jacket Open in Cedarville, Ohio.

Sunday came to WSU after two years as the head boys and girls track coach at Coldwater (OH) HIgh School.  There he organized and managed home meets and developed and implemented training plans and practices.

Working with short sprints, Sunday was part of the Heidelberg coaching staff in 2012-13 that was recognized as the Ohio Athletic Conference women's coaching staff of the year, with six athletes earning All-OAC honors. 

Ceritified as a USATF Level 1 Track and Field Coach, Sunday also has experience as an assistant coach (short sprints/cross country) at Iowa City (IA) West High School.

Sunday graduated from Wartburg College with a bachelor's degree in Fitness Management and a minor in Business in 2011.  He was all-conference in the 1600 meter relay three times while at Wartburg.
