The Wright State baseball team found the offense hard to come by Wednesday night as the Raiders fell to Cincinnati 4-2 in the third-place game of the Joe Nuxhall Classic at Marge Schott Stadium.

The game was scoreless until the fourth, when Zach Weatherford struck with a solo home run, his third of the year, to give WSU a 1-0 advantage.  The Bearcats, though, answered with three runs in the their half of the fourth and added another in the fifth to take a 4-1 lead into the ninth.

Weatherford started the final frame with a walk and Adrian Marquez hit into a force play, a walk to Gabe Snyder and a Seth Gray single loaded the bases.  Alex Alders drew a two-out walk to force in a run, but the Raiders would get no closer as a strikeout ended the game.

Matt Morrow and Weatherford each had two hits to pace the WSU offense while on the mound, Mark Meyer and Daniel Kreuzer combined for 3.2 innings of scoreless relief.

Wright State (25-10) returns to Horizon League play with four games this weekend, hosting Oakland in a 1:00 doubleheader Saturday at Nischwitz Stadium followed by a twinbill at Valparaiso on Sunday starting at 1:00 Eastern.
