The Wright State baseball team completed a three-game series sweep over UT Martin Saturday afternoon at Nischwitz Stadium, jumping out to a 8-0 lead en route to a 12-5 victory.
RBI singles from Adrian Marquez and Gabe Snyder gave the Raiders a 2-0 advantage in the first and the lead grew to 7-0 an inning later, the big blow being a two-run single by Marquez. WSU added another run in the third on a Brandon Giltrow bunt single to make it 8-0.
The margin grew to 10-1 in the sixth on a Nick Weybright two-run single, only to see the Skyhawks cut the deficit to 10-5 with four runs in the seventh.
UT Martin, though, would get no closer as Wright State rounded the scoring with two in the seventh on run-scoring singles by Zach Weatherford and Seth Gray.
Zane Collins (5-3) went five innings for the win, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out four. At the plate, Snyder had four hits and two RBI, Weatherford three hits and three runs scored and Gray three hits and two RBI. Altogether, seven Raiders collected two or more hits.
Wright State (25-8) will take part in the annual Joe Nuxhall Classic Tuesday and Wednesday at Marge Schott Stadium on the University of Cincinnati campus. The Raiders will face Miami on Tuesday at 3:00 and either Cincinnati (6:30) or Xavier (3:00) on Wednesday.
