by WSU Athletic Media Relations

The Wright State women's soccer team appeared headed for a tie at Milwaukee Saturday until an Allie Metzler goal on a header with two seconds remaining in double overtime gave the Raiders a 1-0 Horizon League win.

Ini Umotong set the stage for the golden goal as Panther goalkeeper Jamie Forbes punched her shot over the cross bar, resulting in a corner kick by Sarah Gross.  Gross raced into the corner and struck a quick ball that Metzler was able to head into the net with just two seconds remaining on the clock.

It was the first goal of the season for Metzler and the third assist for Gross.

The win was WSU's first at Milwaukee since defeating the Panthers 2-1 in overtime on October 1, 1989.

Milwaukee finished with a 15-11 shot advantage, including 9-4 on shots on goal, but junior goalkeeper Brooke McCurdy recorded the shutout with nine saves.

Wright State (5-2-3, 1-0 Horizon) will host IPFW on Monday at 7:00 in a makeup of a match that was postponed due to lightning on September 7.
