Brandon Hays, director of marketing at the University of Memphis athletics, has agreed to become the assistant marketing director for Wright State athletics, associate athletics director for marketing Mark Gazdik announced Wednesday. He starts December 17.
"We are extremely excited Brandon is joining the Wright State University team," Gazdik said. "We have made great strides in our marketing efforts over the past year and a half and know that Brandon will be a key part of our continuing growth to new heights. His passion for intercollegiate athletics and experiences at Memphis make him a perfect fit for our team."
Hays, promoted to the director of marketing and promotions in 2009, was responsible for developing a comprehensive marketing and advertising plan for all sports, coordinating in-game promotions, and planning special events such as the FanFest for football and Memphis Madness for basketball. He also serves as a liaison with Tiger Sports Properties, the multimedia rightsholder for Tiger Athletics.
"I'm excited to join Wright State's growing athletic program and to begin life's next chapter," Hays said. "I love the athletic department's commitment to marketing and I know we'll make great strides in that area. I'm ready to hit the ground running and enhance Raider fans' experiences."
Hays had been with Memphis since June 2007, when he was hired as a marketing graduate assistant. As a graduate assistant, he primarily worked with the women's basketball and soccer programs.
A native of Knoxville, Tennessee, Hays also worked as a student assistant in the marketing department at the University of Tennessee and served as an account executive with the Knoxville Ice Bears from October 2006 to May 2007. Hays holds a bachelor's degree in sport management from Tennessee in 2007, as well as a master's degree from Memphis in 2009.
