The Wright State men's soccer team will play two exhibition matches this weekend, traveling to Akron on Friday at 7:00 before hosting Marquette on Sunday at noon.
Akron, who won the national title in 2010, is #10 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America preseason poll. The Zips finished 15-4-4 in 2011 and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament before falling to national runner-up Charlotte.
Marquette won the Big East's Blue Division title last season as the Golden Eagles went 9-8-2 overall and 7-2 in conference play.
10 starters return this season for Wright State, who was the preseason favorite in the Horizon League coaches poll released on August 9. Junior Bryce Rockwell-Ashton, who was named First Team All-Horizon League last season, returns along with sophomores Craig Feehan, Justin Laird and Gustav Svensson, who were each selected to the All-Newcomer Team, with Feehan being chosen as the Newcomer of the Year.
WSU opens the regular season on Friday, August 24, at Marshall and kicks off the home portion of its schedule on Saturday, September 8, against Robert Morris, a contest that starts a five-match homestand.
