Basketball Teams Host Games This Week

The Wright State men’s and women’s basketball teams will be in action at home this week with a pair of games each.

 

Men’s Basketball:  Coming off a loss at Miami Sunday, the Raiders will host Eastern Illinois Thursday at 7 pm and UMKC Saturday at 7 pm.

Holding a record of 5-7, WSU lost at Miami 59-56.  The Raiders were led by AJ Pacher’s 15 points as Jerran Young added 10 points.  Pacher leads the team with an average of 11.7 points per game while JT Yoho and Miles Dixon each sit at 9.8 points per game.

WSU beat Eastern Illinois last year in Charleston, Illinois, 56-44 as well as UMKC two years ago 76-62 as part of BracketBusters.  EIU is currently 3-6 overall while UMKC is 2-7 with a game at home Wednesday against Miami.

Monday will be the final Billy Donlon Show of 2013 at 6 pm at the Woodman Fricker's.  All games and the show this week will be shown live on the Horizon League Network with the games on 106.5 FM.  The UMKC game will be live on the Dayton’s CW.

 

Women’s Basketball:  After a 79-54 win over Xavier Sunday, the women will host the Wright State Invitational Presented by Holiday Inn Friday and Saturday.  Friday, WSU will play Gardner-Webb at 7 pm while Bradley and Lipscomb play at 4:30 pm.  Saturday will feature the consolation and championship games at 2 and 4:30 pm.  WSU will play at 4:30 no matter what the circumstances.

WSU is at 8-3 and were led in the win over Xavier by Tay’ler Mingo’s 24 points.  Kim Demmings continues to lead the way at 21.0 points per game while Ivory James sits at 17.1 points.  Mingo is averaging 15.4 points per game.

Gardner-Webb is 6-3 while Lipscomb is 2-5 with a game at Georgia Tuesday night.  Bradley will bring a 2-6 record.

All tournament games can be seen live on the Horizon League Network.
