Young Nominated for GEICO Play of the Year

Wright State senior forward Jerran Young’s in-bound alley-oop dunk vs. Eastern Illinois on December 19 is nominated for the GEICO Play of the Year, Intersport announced on Monday.

Each week for eight weeks, four incredible college basketball plays will be nominated as the GEICO Play of the Year. Each week’s winner will be determined by fan voting through the official Facebook page ( The eight finalists will compete in a week-long competition to determine the GEICO Play of the Year. The winner will be announced during the GEICO Best of College Basketball special which airs March 29 at 2:00 on CBS.

Coming off of a set out-of-bounds play from the baseline, Jerran Young went flying through the air to make a monstrous alley-oop dunk against Eastern Illinois.  Young’s slam was the icing on the cake for the big win.  To watch this play on YouTube, visit:

Young’s in-bound alley-oop dunk is competing against three other plays from week two, including an impressive block by Duke’s Nick Johnson, a bizarre bouncing pass into the basket by Ole Miss’ Marshall Henderson and a monster posterizing dunk by Wagner’s Dwaun Anderson.
