The Wright State baseball team scored nine times in its final three at bats in rolling to a 12-1 Horizon League victory over Butler Saturday afternoon at Nischwitz Stadium.
Tristan Moore and Zach Tanner provided RBI singles in the first and Michael Timm plated a run with a squeeze play in the fourth, but the margin was still just 3-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth.
The sixth looked uneventful at first as Tanner, who singled and went to second on a bunt, was still there with two outs. Timm, however, kept the inning live with a run-scoring single and Kyle Mossbarger and Jake Hibberd followed with doubles to make it 6-1. Singles from Corey Davis and Ryan Ashe closed out the five-run innings to extend the lead to 8-1.
Mossbarger singled in Garrett Gray, who doubled, in the seventh and the Raiders rounded out the scoring in the eighth on a Tanner RBI double and run-scoring singles by Gray and Timm.
Taylor Braun (5-1) pitched an impressive seven innings for the victory, allowing just three hits, two walks and no earned runs in striking out five. Travis Hissong and Vinny Galiardi each pitched a scoreless inning to close out the game.
Offensively, Tanner went four for five with three runs scored and two RBI while Timm was three for four with three RBI. Hibberd, Moore, Ashe and Mossbarger each had two hits.
Wright State (29-14, 15-5 Horizon) and Butler (20-23, 8-12 Horizon) wrap up the three-game series with the final game Sunday at 1:00.
