The Wright State baseball team scored in five straight innings and six overall in rolling to a 20-3 win over Wilmington Wednesday night at Nischwitz Stadium.
After WSU opened the scoring with three runs in the second on a Michael Timm two-run double and a Jake Hibberd RBI single, the Raiders added two more in the third on a Kyle Mossbarger single to go up 5-0.
Wilmington cut into the deficit with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth, only to see Wright State answered with seven in the bottom of the frame. Sam Picchiotti proved the big blow, a three-run triple to right center.
The Raiders tacked on four more runs in the fifth, one in the sixth and three in the eighth to complete their scoring.
Every WSU starter collected at least one hit on the night, with Hibberd, Mossbarger and Kody Krizman having three. Picchiotti led the way with four RBI with four other Raiders having two. Ryan Ashe scored four times and four other scored three times.
On the mound, Luke Mamer (1-0) earned his first collegiate win by going the first three innings, allowing no runs on three hits with a strikeout.
Wright State (9-9) returns to Horizon League play this weekend with a three-game set at Butler, starting with a single game Friday at 3:00.
