Baseball Drops Series Opener With Youngstown State

The Wright State baseball team fell behind 6-0 after an inning and could not recover as Youngstown State won the Horizon League series opener 10-1 Thursday night at Nischwitz Stadium.

The Penguins sent 10 batters to the plate in scoring six runs in the first, including a two-run home run by Neil Schroth and a three-run homer off the bat of Nick DiNello.  YSU then added three more in the seventh and one in the eighth.

The lone Raider run came in the seventh as Cody Gardner singled up the middle with one out and came in as Kieston Greene, who had three hits in the game, doubled to the gap in left center.

Wright State (8-13, 3-4 Horizon) and Youngstown State (6-17, 2-2 Horizon) continue the three-game series Friday night at 6:30.
