Junior Jamison Clark has been selected as the Horizon League Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 22, it was announced Tuesday by the league office.
Clark (Indianapolis, IN/North Central) helped the Raiders capture their first Horizon League regular-season title after the Raiders knocked off Youngstown State 6-1 and Cleveland State 4-3 on the road last week. Teaming with Hayden Joblin at #1 doubles, Clark led WSU to the doubles point in both matches as the duo collected an 8-1 win at YSU before a key 8-3 victory at CSU.
At #5 singles, Clark breezed to a 6-4, 6-4 win against Youngstown State on Saturday. In Sunday's victory at Cleveland State, Clark dropped the first set, 2-6, before rallying for a 6-2, 6-4 triumph that helped clinch the match for the Raiders and give them the outright League title.
This is the sixth time that the Raiders have received the Horizon League Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week honor this season as Martin Arguello won on March 6 and April 17, Hayden Joblin on January 24 and March 13 and Lauri Makikalli on February 28.
The #1 seed in the Horizon League Men's Tennis Tournament, Wright State (18-4, 7-0 Horizon) earned a bye into the semifinals, where the Raiders will face the winner of the #4 Cleveland State-#5 Detroit match. The semifinal match will be played at 10:30 on Saturday, April 28, at the Barbara Wynne Tennis Center on the campus of North Central High School in Indianapolis. The championship match is set for 12:30 on Sunday.
