Sarah-Ann Blount, who will be a sophomore on the Wright State track team next season, competed at the USATF Junior Olympic Regional Championships over the weekend at Cedarville University. The national meet will be July 23-29 in Baltimore.
Blount (Dayton, OH/Thurgood Marshall) qualified for the national meet in two of the four events she competed in, placing third in the triple jump (10.48) and qualifying in the javelin (23.48). She also competed in the long jump and 100 meter hurdles.
"Sarah-Ann represented WSU very well this weekend again facing the best athletes from Michigan, Kentucky, West Virginia and Ohio," said WSU head coach Fabien Corbillon. "In order to be the first WSU athlete to qualify for the Junior Olympics National meet, she recorded two personal best in the javelin and the triple jump. I am excited for her to compete against the best American athletes under 19 years old in these mini Olympic Games."
