A goal late in the first half proved to be all the scoring as the Wright State men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Valparaiso Friday night at Alumni Field.

The Crusaders scored that lone goal at the 37:45 mark of the first half as a scramble near the goal resulted in Sam Haines scoring his first goal of the season on an assist from Jonathon Smith.

The Raider defense held Valparaiso scoreless the rest of the way as goalkeeper Craig Feehan recorded six saves on the night, but the Crusader defense preserved the shutout.

Valparaiso (5-4-2, 2-0-1 Horizon) outshot WSU 12-9, but the Raiders had a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.

Wright State (6-4-1, 2-1 Horizon) heads to Milwaukee on Saturday, October 15, for a 8:00 Eastern contest.
