The 3rd annual free men’s soccer clinic saw more than 200 young athletes join the team for an opportunity to be coached by Wright State players. The old game field hosted more than 14 training groups and gave participants an opportunity to learn, have fun and compete for giveaways. When it was all done, players received a free ticket to the men’s soccer home game on September 27th against Cleveland State, a free kids meal from Beef O’ Brady’s and pictures and autographs with the team and coaches.
The event is turning out to be a semi-annual tradition each fall and spring and once again filled up quickly.
"We were so impressed by the enthusiasm of the 200 plus kids that attended. Our staff and players really fed off the energy and we had families waiting nearly an hour for post clinic autographs," said head coach Bryan Davis. "These clinics have continued to allow our student-athletes to connect with community, build fans of the men’s soccer team, and the events have become a highlight for this program. We want to thank everyone for coming out and making it a great night.”
The event featured a number of giveaways and skills competitions. Participants had the opportunity to be split into smaller training groups and learn firsthand from the Wright State players and coaches. Training focused on technical skills as related to both dribbling and passing, and finished with an opportunity to put these skills to use in a small sided game. At the end players had an opportunity to sign autographs and purchase Wright State gear.
