Wright State head volleyball coach Susan Clements has announced the addition of Veerle van Oosterom to the 2017 roster.
van Oosterom (Hagestein, The Netherlands), a 5-9 setter, has been a part of VV Utrecht Club since 2015, which is a team in the Topdivision, the second highest level in the Dutch national league. During the 2016-17 season, VV Utrecht Club reached the quarterfinals of the Netherlands National Cup.
In 2015, van Oosterom was selected to join the summer Dutch National Youth Team U18, which competed in the 8 Nations Tournament in Mulhouse, France.
From 2011-13, she was part of Nevobo, the official volleyball federation of the Netherlands, and trained with the regional team. In 2012, the team was second in the Dutch National Cup and in 2013, it was third in the U18 Dutch National Championships.
"We are extremely excited to welcome Veerle to the Raider Volleyball family," said Clements. "She will be our first international player to wear the green and gold at Wright State and we are looking forward to having her bring a high level of international play into our gym. I anticipate her competing for playing time in the setter position as soon as she gets to campus. She is athletic and quick in the setting role and her consistency in delivering the ball to the pins will help improve our team's ability to attack at a high percentage."
