The #2 seeded Raiders received a first-round bye in the Horizon League Baseball Championship beginning on Wednesday, May 24, and will look to three-peat as champions at Les Miller Field at Granderson Stadium in Chicago.

The tournament starts Wednesday with the four lower seeded teams playing in a single-elimination style.  The tournament switches to a double-elimination event Thursday as Wright State (36-19, 21-9) will play the highest remaining seed and top seed UIC (36-15, 22-8) will play the lowest remaining seed from the opening round.  Click here to see the full Tournament Bracket.

The Flames defeated the Raiders three times in five tries this season, all in the final two weeks of the season.  For the season, WSU went 4-1 against Valparaiso, Milwaukee and Oakland and 3-2 versus Northern Kentucky.

Pitcher Ryan Weiss was selected as the Freshman of the Year and was chosen to the First Team along with junior second baseman Matt Morrow.  Junior pitcher Danny Sexton was named to the Second Team along with junior pitcher Derek Hendrixson and freshman third baseman Seth Gray.  Both Weiss and Gray were selected to the All-Freshman Team.

Morrow leads the team with a .325 average along with 34 RBI and 12 doubles while Gabe Snyder tops the Raiders with 13 home runs and 44 RBI.  Hendrixson holds a team-best 1.69 ERA with nine  saves and a 3-1 record.  Weiss (2.09, 7-1), Zane Collins (2.75, 6-5) and Sexton (2.80, 8-1) anchor the early innings on the mound.

The Raiders have won six Horizon League tournament titles overall, tying them with Oral Roberts for the most championships.  WSU has appeared in four straight title games.

All tournament games will be available to watch on ESPN3 with Valparaiso vs Oakland beginning the tournament at 1 p.m. ET on May 24.  Wright State's first game will begin at 4 p.m. on May 25 and the Championship will take place on Saturday May 27.
