The Wright State softball team saw its season come to an end with a pair of losses Thursday at the Horizon League Tournament in Chicago, falling to #1 seed and host UIC 2-0 before dropping a 6-2 decision to #5 seed Detroit Mercy.
In the first game of the day, UIC scored both of its runs in the third and made that stand up for the win. The Raider offense was limited to four hits, including two from Becka Peterson and a double by Libby Pfeffer.
In the second game, Detroit Mercy took advantage of an error to score twice in the first. WSU cut the deficit in half in the second as Peterson singled, Cook walked and pinch-runner Karalyn Rhodeback scored on a two-out hit to left by Alexis Mayle.
The Titans, though, answered with three runs in the third and another in the fifth. Mayle led off the fifth with her sixth home run of the season to left, but WSU would get no closer.
Wright State closes the season with a final record of 21-31.
